Speaker Biography
Jorge Zafra is a Mechanical Fluid Engineer from the National University of San Marcos with 20 years of experience in water management across various industries. He holds a Master's degree in Hydrology and Water Resources Management from the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education in the Netherlands.

Mr. Zafra has extensive experience in the design of hydraulic infrastructure, road drainage, hydroelectric power plants, pit dewatering plans, water balances, hydrological and hydrogeological modelling, climate change, and water management strategies in mining.
Currently, he serves as the Principal Hydrologist in the Strategic Planning Management team at Minera Las Bambas, Peru. Where he leads the comprehensive water management strategy. He also provides technical support for operations and long-term plans, including dewatering plans, water balance, water management infrastructure strategy, ensuring alignment with international standards such as those of the ICMM.

With 10 years of teaching experience, Mr. Zafra has taught courses in hydrology, hydraulics. He currently teaches Hydrogeology in the Environmental Engineering Faculty at UTEC-Lima.
