Dr. Sally Innis is a senior programme officer for ICMM working on mine closure and water projects. Prior to joining ICMM in April 2023, Sally completed her PhD in Mining Engineering at the University of British Columbia. Her research addressed the need for qualitative and quantitative research to understand the risks and opportunities facing the mining industry, including mapping the consequences of potential tailings storage facility failures.
In addition to her academic work, Sally worked as a Mining Solutions Consultant for a digitally-enabled commodity trader, Open Mineral. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Geology. She has worked in various sectors and mining-related fields, including exploration geology in north-central British Columbia and environmental development in northern Senegal.
