Melissa Leclair is the Manager of Environment & Sustainability at Agnico Eagle Mines’ Detour Lake Mine where she leads the site-based team responsible for environmental permitting and compliance at Canada’s largest open pit gold mine. Her core responsibilities include ensuring compliance to all existing permits and regulations, obtaining permits for expansion projects as well as developing positive and impactful relationships with the mine’s key Indigenous partners and both federal and provincial regulators. Ms. Leclair joined Detour Lake Mine in 2015 after working as an environmental compliance professional with De Beers Canada. Having completed her Masters in Hydrology at the University of Waterloo in the field of peatland hydrology Melissa has over 12 years of experience in environmental stewardship in the mining industry.
