Bio:

Ingrid is a Hydraulic Civil Engineer from Universidad de Chile, with an MBA in Universidad Adolfo Ibañez (Chile) and a Master of Science in Hydrogeologist from Universidad Politecnica de Cataluña (Spain).

Ingrid has 21 years of combined experience in the mining industry. She joined BHP through the Graduate Program in 2003, her work experience includes Escondida Operations, Studies and Major Project Management, Global Tailings Management and Global Sustainability Innovation – zero emissions.

Most recently, she led the development of the BHP Long Term Tailings Strategy as part of the BHP Tailings Taskforce team, based in Melbourne, Australia.

In the previous assignment, she was responsible for the Minerals Americas studies portfolio as Head of Directional Studies, where she defined strategies and the business opportunities for the region to develop. She had also led numerous mining initiatives for Minerals Americas focusing on global innovative and alternative solutions for future mining challenges.

She has participated in several Major Project during prefeasibility, feasibility and execution phases. She was Project Engineering Manager in Escondida Desalination Project – US$3.5B, and then, she was nominated as Project Manager of the expansion of the same project during the pre-feasibility phase.

She has participated in several activities with local universities and communities to promote and increase female participation in STEM and mining career pathways, and “inclusion and diversity” initiatives. She also has been a member of the “Graduate Program” process and mentoring program.

Ingrid also has experience in Water and Tailings Management in Escondida Operation.

Currently, Ingrid works at BHP as Head of Sustainability Innovation (Zero emissions) as part of the Global Innovation team, based in Melbourne, Australia.
