Jacob Mai holds a degree in Geoenvironmental Engineering and Mining Engineering from Clausthal University of Technology. He has comprehensive research experience in the field of environmental impact mitigation in the mining industry gathered in SE-Asia, Central Africa and Central America.
He worked for a multinational building materials company in Germany before joining the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) as head project manager for a German sustainable economic development program in Myanmar. Since 2021 he works as a technical advisor for regional cooperation project for sustainable mining in the Andean countries (MinSus), where he is based in Lima, Peru.
