John McCartney is a geologist, engineering geologist, and hydrogeologist by profession. He has a BSc. in Geology and Chemistry, a Diploma in Engineering Geology, and a MSc. in Hydrogeology. John’s educational background includes: Victoria University (New Zealand), University of Canterbury (New Zealand), Curtin University (Australia), University of Technology Sydney (Australia), and Stanford University (USA). He has over 25 years of professional experience and is currently Vice President of Water Management at Barrick Gold Corporation. John´s early career focused initially on hydrology in New Zealand and then on to mining geology in Australia. In 1995, he moved to South America and worked throughout the region as a water resources consultant before taking the global role with Barrick.
