Bio:

Raphael is the Technology Director for the Bauxite & Alumina (B&A) business division of Hydro, responsible Technology Development, R&D, Digital Transformation, Cybersecurity and the B&A lean manufacturing-based Business System (BABS). The B&A Technology team also provides technical support to operations, including bauxite mining and beneficiation operations at Paragominas, alumina refining operations at Alunorte, and the Mineração Rio do Norte (MRN) joint-venture. Raphael is a board director of the Companhia de Alumina do Para (CAP) alumina refinery project, the Paragominas bauxite mine, and the Alunorte alumina refinery.

Raphael has more than 35 years of experience in the aluminum industry, working in various technical and managerial positions with Alcoa and Hydro, in Brazil, the U.S., Spain, and Australia. He also has 4 years of experience in the steel mini-mill industry in the US, working for the steelmaking company Gerdau. He has a Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in Brazil and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Houston-Victoria, in the US
